CONVOCATION CEREMONY OF THE 7th AND 8th BATCH OF CHAGPORI DOCTORS

On 6th May 2022 convocation ceremony of the 7th and 8th batch graduates of Chagpori doctors was held at Chagpori College, Takdah Cantonment,Darjeeling. It also coincided with the 326th anniversary of Chagpori, Lhasa, Tibet (1696-1959) and 30th anniversary of Chagpori, Darjeeling.

There are 21 doctors who have graduated, which consists of 9 and 12 doctors in the above mentioned two classes respectively. They have successfully completed their 5 years of medical studies and one year of internship at different Men-Tsee-Khang’s branch clinics and other clinics. They have also done their Yuthog Nyingthig “ngondro” (preliminary practice) as per Chagpori’s lineage. The 7th batch underwent their studies from 2013 to 2019 and the 8th batch was from 2015 to 2021. Eighty doctors have graduated till now and there are currently fifteen students under-going the course. 

Ku-ngo Tsewang Phuntsok, the Tibetan Settlement Officer of Darjeeling was the Chief Guest. The guest of honour was Ms. Kalsang Chodon, the Principal of Sambhota Tibetan School, Darjeeling. The guests included representatives from Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Sowa Rigpa Department; Medical Officer from Men-Tsee-Khang’s Darjeeling branch clinic, representatives of the NGO’s/monasteries and other guests from the region. We were delighted to have some of our former Chagpori doctors and teachers.

The certificates of Menpa Kachupa / Bachelor in Sowa Rigpa Medicine & Surgery (B.S.R.M.S.) were presented to all the graduating doctors and also merit certificate were awarded to the top three students from each class. 

We wholeheartedly thank all the sponsors and well-wishers who have supported our work through the years. 

With prayers of aspiration that our doctors will be successful in their future endeavour and be the torchbearers of the teaching of Sowa Rigpa.
