At the moment the office is in Darjeeling, the college is in Takdah which is slightly less than two hours drive away, while the pharmacy
at the new site is in Siliguri on the Indian plains is about 80 km away
– a journey of three and a half hours – and doctors, personnel and medicines need to be able to easily travel between them.
Although we hope to be able to shift in 2017 to the new site we realise that a multi purpose vehicle is a necessity for the mobility of the Institute. Even when the Institute is in one compound, still transport remains an important issue to stay connected with the different clinics and provision of materials. The old car has been discarded as maintenance became too costly. The estimate for a new suitable vehicle is 11.000 euros.
